The MCO premiered a newly composed piano concerto by Jack DeBouter with piano soloist Gareth Cordery in November. The nearly twenty-minute work was written for the group and was greeted with marvelous reviews. It was partnered with a performance of Beethoven’s famous Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral”.

Read MorePete Francis, former founder and lead singer for Middlebury’s own renowned indie rock band Dispatch, joined his new band with the MCO and Evan Bennett in April to celebrate composer Su Lian Tan (Fletcher Professor of the Arts, Middlebury) and her twenty-five years of influencing musicians at Middlebury. Performing the first live rendition of a new song in an arrangement by Jack Herscowitz, Francis and the orchestra opened the second half of the wide-ranging concert.
